How I discovered knitting
The beginning, Part 1

My name is Antoinette and you could say I am addicted to knitting. How that came about?
I think it's something I got from my mom, because she knitted sweaters and dresses for me and my sister when I was little, but also a complete knitted Barbie and doll wardrobe was no trouble for her.
In this very old photo, I am wearing old pink Christmas dress knitted by my moms
And of course, I wasn't knitting then, but from the scraps of wool I was handspinning next to her on the couch, long, long threads that I then later made into a ball, which I don't really remember what I did with.
But I actually still do it with small scraps of wool and now make balls out of it for my own pouches and for the cat storage bag.
Then the time comes when you move out on your own and you get too busy with other things and other interests.
But a few years ago I was cleaning out a closet and came across an old punnicking bobbin and I was immediately reminded of elementary school, where with manual labor you did your best to see if it came out the bottom and get it as long as you could and then glue it into shapes on paper. So with those thoughts I began to pick up punnicking again.
From tryouts like a snail, turtle and butterflies, the fish, caterpillar and scarf was surely the best thing I made with punnicking.
But even though it worked pretty well, it did take an awful lot of time to make one animal or scarf, so I switched to something simple and started punnicking a fly curtain. It went faster, but it wasn't either, so I pulled out all the strands again. And what's left? Just a lot of wool that I had actually bought for the fly curtain. Then it occurred to me that I still had a few knitting pins in the closet and that's where it all started
In my next blog I will tell you how it continues.
